  17. <p>     If pop rocker Curtis Stigers indeed Never Saw a Miracle,
  18. as he sings on his latest single, then he need look no further
  19. than his own career. In one year, the jazz-influenced crooner
  20. and composer has rocketed from nightclubs to stadiums, powered
  21. by his debut album and its soul-edged ballad I Wonder Why.
  22. Among his mentors, the Idaho refugee counts Elton John and Eric
  23. Clapton: "I learned to play saxophone by listening to rock
  24. guitar players like Clapton." Stigers starts a concert tour this
  25. week in New York City. Joining him at Shea Stadium: Clapton and
  26. John.
